9. Go overseas for some sort of abroad program (20th November 2008 – January 2009)

I had a mailing list I used for when I was traveling and included friends & some people from the ZW (My lovefoxxxes ! ;-D) and these are my entries. If you’ve read them already, excuse me !

21st November 2008 / Hello from Korea !
IF YOU WERE FALLING / THEN I WOULD CATCH YOU / YOU NEED A LIGHT / I’D FIND A MATCH /
CAUSE I LOVE THE WAY YOU SAY GOOD MORNING / & YOU TAKE ME THE WAY I AM ..

Location: Incheon airport, Korea

1. On the plane to Korea 2. Jeju island is famous for its water in Korea 3. reading “L’Etranger” by Albert Camus & next to me is Nicole’s gross eggplant vegetarian meal

In Korea airport at the moment after a grueling 11 something hour flight. Got the worst motion sickness ever, including Nicole who’s flying with me. Maybe it was the fact that we were RIGHT at the back of the plane, or maybe Korea Airlines had amature pilots.

4. In Incheon airport 5. Walking around outside our hotel to grab something to eat because the complimentary dinner (like all other freebies) was really bad ;-x 6. In the morning, we went to get green tea ice cream <333333

Either way, a horrible moment in my history of plane trips. Actually were had pretty crappy seats and pretty much nothing to do as there were no television screens at the back of the seats. HA. Prior to the flight Nicole had asked me

“they’ll have TV screens right ?”

Naively I replied

“What kind of airline doesn’t have TV screens ?!”

Screw that. It was a $2k ticket.

Gotta go ! They’re calling us ! Air France whoo.

7. All the junk we bought at those 24/7’s : instant noodles, onion rings, all these different flavoured chips (that we wouldn’t usually get in Australia !) & Starbucks drink 8. About to board Air France plane to Paris ! 9. Sitting in the terminal in Seoul waiting, waiting, waiting

24th November 2008 / Hello from Vichy !!
IF YOU ARE CHILLY / HERE TAKE MY SWEATER / YOUR HEAD IS ACHING, I’LL MAKE IT BETTER / CAUSE’ I LOVE THE WAY YOU CALL ME BABY / & YOU TAKE ME THE WAY I AM ..

Location: Vichy, France

After having no internet for a good 3-4 days you can imagine that I’m going insane, yeah haha about the jokes that I am already such an (insane) person. sshhh. Typing on this European keyboard is also annoying but what can you do !!

1. Got a computer ! Sometimes you have to queue up ;-x 2. The European keyboard with all its accents & blah 3. Nicole using a computer (like she’s looking at porn) in the library at CAVILAM

Reached Paris on Friday afternoon, 1445, and whilst attempting to get to Vichy we got lost not once, not twice, and sadly not even thrice. So for those of you who are thinking of travelling out to Paris yourselves make sure you not only take a map but ask around for directions and such because the map is seriously a sad attempt at giving directions. X-D I can read maps I swear !

So after arriving at the airport we look at the map that Jean Louis, Nic’s old-man-friend, gave us and for some random reason we thought that we needed to go to Orly.
One hour later and 18 euros poorer we’re on a bus full of pilots and such and after reaching Orly airport we pull out our train tickets to Vichy and it reads ‘Gare de Lyon’.

GARE DE LYON: FRICK ON A STICK.

We hurridly and franticly ask for direction from this old dude on the bus and he told us that it would take at least another hour to Gare de Lyon where our train would depart at 1802 aka 6:02pm. Luckily I had told Nic to buy tickets in the evening to give us a bit of a time to figure out how to get everywhere or to accomodate such a situation. At this point there were 2 options:
1. Take a bus thru the blockage in Paris which would take 1+ hour or
2. Take a million trains trains that would be quicker

We did the second which was a challenge in itself especially as the trains got really full and we were carrying really large, heavy bags thru the busy crowds of pissed-off looking Parisiens.

It took us such a long time to find Gare de Lyon that when we arrived it was 15 mins before its departure and AGAIN without looking @ our FIRST CLASS tickets we just got onto any carriage, ‘voiture‘, that said ‘premiere classe’. In the ever growing list of things I don’t recommend, this is definitely near the top because we got on and the train started moving and we realised we were in voiture 1 when our voiture was no.12. We ended up spending the whole 3 hour train ride in the hallway ! And when the ticket inspector came around he was like

“WTF-MATE ?? Why did you down-grade yourselves?”

It wasn’t OUR choice.

Okay so Nicole is nagging me (forever like this) to get off the computer because she’s bored and i’ve written an essay.

Me: “Wow, there’s so many Asians around !”
Nic: “OHHH GOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *pauses* … i want an Elmo ! (hand wipes that have elmo on it”

You can imagine what the people behind us would think, that we’re making racist comments but no, we love every race equally !!

ps. my host mum is lovely so friendly.
